How to Prevent the Flu this Season

Tis the season for cough, runny nose, body aches, headaches, upset stomach, and fever. If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is too late to prevent a cold and/or flu, but you can still visit your provider for some treatment options. If you have yet to come down with a cold and/or flu, it is important that you work hard and remain consistent in preventing the flu. The best prevention method to prevent the flu is to wash your hands. Washing your hands is great, especially if done right. How to wash your hands correctly: Sing the happy birthday song, this helps make sure you are washing your hands long enough. First, turn warm water on and wet your hands. Second, apply soap and vigorously scrub your hands up to your wrists. Make sure you wash under your fingernails. Third, rinse your hands. Fourth, grab a paper towel and dry your hands. Fifth, use the paper towel to turn the faucet off. Now, you have washed your hands correctly. What to do if you do not have access to soap and water, use hand sanitizer. If your hands are soiled, please do not use hand sanitizer, use soap and water. In addition to washing your hands, it is important that you cover your cough, stay away from people who are sick, and stay away from people if you feel yourself coming down with the sniffles.
